Songs like:

I Shot The Sheriff
Knockin' on Heavens Door
Lay Down Sally
Wonderful Tonight
Tears in Heaven

and a revived acoustic version of Layla! :D

Okay - no need to get in a twist about it! :D There's heaps of artists who've been in bands which went solo & those which appeared in other groups! :D

Glenn Frey & Don Henley from the Eagles went Solo, Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac went Solo, Gene Clark has been in numerous groups including the Byrds and also did a couple of Solo albums and David Gates from Bread also went Solo and then went back to Bread! :D And John Denver was also in a group before making it bit time in the Solo, anyone know which group? :D Scott McKenzie was also in some early 60s Folk groups before having his one big hit about San Francisco! :D

Emerson Hart (Vocalist for Tonic)

zoom_36691.jpg

Tonic was one of the more underrated bands out of the pop rock movement of bands like Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, etc. They had a huge hit with

If You Could Only See

They were a solid band with great songwriting and when they opened for the Goo Goo Dolls they played just as good of a show in my opinion! My other favorite Tonic tracks were:

You Wanted More

Mean to Me

when the band went on hiatus and Emerson released a c.d. For whatever reason it took me until late last year to buy his 2007 solo album

Cigarettes and Gasoline

emersonhartalbum.jpg

It was well worth it and the album is one I connected to more than any full Tonic c.d. Emerson carries through with the same great songwriting that made Tonic great and could explore more than he was able to do in the structure of a pop band. The song that got me to pick up thius c.d. the second I got around to listening (my friend kept telling me it was great but his words fell by the wayside for to long) was this one:

I Wish The Best For You
(Wow! What a POWERFUL song and a great example of perfect songwriting IMO! The type that's so simple it's brilliant and almost anyone can relate to it)

Other great tracks are;

If You're Gonna Leave

Friend To A Stranger
