Gene is many things no denying that.

But most of all he's a shrewd businessman who's hobby is being the bass player in a famous rock band.:heheh:

And for all the criticism and opinions he offers anyone who puts a microphone in front of his face, he ends up helping keep people like Cobain upfront in discussions like this all these years after his death.

Still I do feel like telling him to 'shut it' once in a while, same as Slammin' Sammy when he's ranting and raving.:D

He's just trolling isn't he?

It's not just on internet forums where people troll to get a reaction, they do it in media interviews too.

Trolling is the new "Peace, man, let me stick some flowers in your hair"

Everyone is doing it, I have an 'app' on my iPhone linked to a Baltimore Orioles forum where hilarious anal troll replies come through to me while I'm in the shower, or walking the dog, the moment you get upset or offended about it is the moment you need to quit the internet and take up embroidery or stamp collecting.

Gene has a notoriously big mouth to accomodate a world-record sized tongue, but we should be used to him by now after 40 odd years.

I don't think he's picking fights. It's more of a commentary on the idolisation and fandom that followed Cobain's death. He's right about the limited scale of Cobain's musical legacy; that is an undeniable fact. The same is arguably true of Hendrix of course.

Gene is one of the smartest guys in the music business no denying that but I do wonder if every once in a while Paul Stanley would love him to just shut up...:heheh:
I have seen interviews with Paul where he says that he doesn't agree with everything Gene says and does, from politics to business. He's not rude about it, but he's also at a point in his life where he knows that his business partner and bandmate of the past 40+ years is going to do what he's going to do and Paul is his own man. They are tied at the hip via KISS + other business adventures, but Paul does plenty of stuff on his own. I"m sure behind closed doors, he's told Gene to STFU, but publically, he's professional in stating as much.

Picking a fight with a dead man? Pfttt

um, ok, lets take his comments a little FURTHER out of context, shall we?

The thread is titled "Gene Simmons VS. Kurt Cobain."

Hence, fighting a dead man.

^^I agree with you AAG, there is that ancient adage too about speaking ill of the dead. If you cross that line then you reap what you sow.

Gene makes for good sound bites though when it's all said and done that's why he does spout off, and if he really feels that way about something so be it he's entitled to his opinion even if I disagree with him.
