Los Angeles police carried out a search warrant on the home of Kiss co-founder Gene Simmons yesterday as part of an investigation being pursued by the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

KTLA reports that neither Simmons nor any of the members of his family are considered suspects in the investigation, which stems from incidents that “may have occurred on their property last year while Simmons was away on tour with Kiss.”

The report adds that “police had asked the family not to discuss the matter publicly so as not to compromise the investigation,” so fans shouldn’t expect much in the way of direct commentary from the Simmons clan, but Gene Simmons’ Twitter feed includes a number of retweets of reports stressing that police aren’t targeting the family, as well as a pair of tweets from his wife, actress Shannon Tweed Simmons, and his daughter Sophie.

In a separate Facebook post, Shannon alluded to the chaos of a day punctuated by a visit from the police, writing, “OMG this is one crazy day update: all of our iPhones iPads and computers are cleared. Now the real investigation can start!”

You can check out KTLA’s complete report on the investigation via the footage embedded in this post, and continue checking back here for further updates as the case develops.
