Anyone remember Gary Lewis & The Playboys? Gary Lewis - Son of Jerry Lewis had quite some success in the mid-60s with songs like "This Diamond Ring", "Count Me In", "Save Your Heart With Me", "Everyone Loves a Clown", "She's Just My Style", "Sure Goin' To Miss Her" & "Green Grass".

To me honest the only ones I remember are "This Diamond Ring", "Count Me In", "Everyone Loves a Clown" & "She's Just My Style". To me Gary Lewis & The Playboys seem to be more of a Singles group than an albums group cause I'm fortunate enough to have "Everybody Loves A Clown" and "She's Just My Style" on one CD and apart from those titled songs the majority of songs from those albums are cover versions of popular songs:

"Everybody Loves A Clown"

1. Everybody Loves A Clown
2. Mr. Blue
3. Chip Chip
4. I Gotta Find Cupid
5. Let Me Tell Your Fortune
6. ('Till) I Kissed You
7. Tossin' And Turnin'
8. My Special Angel
9. We'll Work It Out
10. Sha La La
11. Time Stands Still
12. Dreamin'

"She's Just My Style"

1. She's Just My Style
2. Lies
3. All I Have To Do Is Dream
4. You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
5. I Won't Make That Mistake Again
6. A Hundred Pounds Of Clay
7. Run For Your Life
8. Take Good Care Of My Baby
9. Down In The Boomdocks
10. You Didn't Have To Be So Nice
11. Someone I Used To Know
12. Heart Full Of Soul

So perhaps if anyone knows of a good Greatest Hits album which includes all their singles, that would be the best approach.

For those Interested the B-Side track to "Everybody Loves A Clown" is "Time Stands Still" and the B-Side track to "She's Just My Style" is "I Won't Make That Mistake Again"

You bet I remember Gary Lewis & the Playboys! They had an excellent string of hits in the latter part of the sixties.

Here's a Greatest Hits CD you might consider:

Funny that cause I had no problem finding some on those songs on YouTube, but "This Diamond Ring" has to be the hardest one to find cause I found the majority of that particular song on YouTube to me a Remake from 1990! I haven't heard "Count Me In" for years and years, but I always remember Gary Lewis & The Playboys singing it! :D Fancy not including "Time Stands Still" on their Greatest Hits CD! :wtf: Actually 1965 & 1966 seems to be the two years they were dominant for and then I guess from 1967 The Monkees kind of kicked in? "This Diamond Ring" though was their only #1 song, but like you say they have a string of hits in the #10, which is pretty good going.

Re: Gary Lewis & the Playboys

Good job I put the group back on the map! :D

I saw a YouTube Video of a Live concert which said Gary Lewis and The Playboys performing "Sealed With A Kiss", which all looked very good and that, but I wasn't sure if it was them or not cause they had a frontman singing the song - I could hardly reckonise Gary though and wasn't sure if it was him leading as frontman for that. The group I saw also had a bit of a Rock edge to their songs too, but I guess it could be them! :D

Most, if not all of Gary Lewis & the Playboys records were produced by none other than Leon Russel, of Leon Russel and the Shelter People fame/Joe Cocker's Grease Band fame.
