Welsh rock trio LOVE SCULPTURE featuring Dave Edmunds was active between 1966-1970 with the band releasing two studio albums the first of which was a 'blues' orientated album in keeping with the blues bands of the day such a John Mayall, Savoy Brown and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac but the second album was more of a 'rock' orientated album and featured the now famous high-speed instrumental track called Sabre Dance which the band played at 100 mph from start to finish!!. An edited version of Sabre Dance was released as a 45rpm single and charted high in the British singles charts in 1968 at no.5. This tune called Sabre Dance was possibly the first 'speed metal' song ever recorded back in 1968 about 15 years before trash/speed metal was invented!!.
