Foghat & Savoy Brown. Onetime back in the early 1990s I had all the Savoy Brown reissued cds on the Deram label (connected to Decca/London) starting with the first Savoy Brown album in 1967 and finishing with Savage Return in 1978 plus a live cassette of Savoy Brown playing live in central park in NY in 1972 plus also a live vinyl double-album from about 1981 and another vinyl album called Savoy Brown Street Warriors as well, also I had a couple of cds released on a independent GNP label (I think?) with one called Make Me Sweat. The biggest regret I have is that I sold all the stuff back in the 1990s which still annoys me to this day!!.
Savoy Brown favourite albums of mine are Blue Matter, A Step Further, Raw Sienna, Looking In, Street Corner Talking, Hellbound Train, Lion's Share, Jack The Toad, Boogie Brothers, Wire Fire, Skin 'n' Bone, Savage Return and Street Warriors..
As for Foghat the only album of Foghat that I listen to still is the 1977 Foghat Live cd album cos its actually a very good listen!!. As for the Foghat track Leavin' Again Again on the first Foghat album personally I prefer the Savoy Brown version of the song on the Looking In album from 1970.
British blues/rock guitarist Stan Webb of Chicken Shack along with Kim Simmonds & Miller Anderson (three guitarists) said the original idea of Boogie Brothers was a new band featuring Stan, Kim and Miller with Stan going on to say that "Boogie Brothers could have been really special but the name 'Boogie Brothers' was changed to Savoy Brown on the eve of a US tour in 1974 supporting Deep Purple no doubt cos of 'name value' for the promotors with Stan saying "That really annoyed me changing the name back to Savoy Brown!!." Stan went on to say that "We did a 7-weeks straight supporting Deep Purple across America and then our management booked us for another 7-weeks and by then everyone had 'road fever' and was going crazy and cracking up and it become so bad that in Canada in Calgary the police actually escorted the band outta town to get rid of us and of course nobody saw any money that we made from that tour!!"
