No idea now.....but my brother and I bought 45 rpm singles in the mid 60's when the Beatles came out and had many by American pop stars like Lou Christie , Lesley Gore, Beach Boys, Valli, Gene Pitney, Supremes ... etc.
I know we had Meet The Beatles (US release) and Goldfinger soundtrack when they both came out in '64.....probably a few others.

Jimi Hendrix- Axis : Bold as Love , i remember my mother making a devil music comment on it. Before buying anything i had a ton of 45s . I had an uncle that had a vending machine route and one of his tasks was servicing old jukeboxes. He used to bring us boxes of 45s , most were sh!t but some were keepers too. The sh!t ones made excellent ninja stars before ninja stars were a thing.

The very first album I bought was back in 1972 SLADE ALIVE aged 15 years old and SLADE were VERY BIG in the UK at that time releasing a run of top 10 singles between about 1971-1974 after which they went to the USA between 1975-1977 and returned home and then couldn't even get arrested!!. A 2-years absence from the UK trying to 'break in the states' and the rise of punk rock in the UK killed the band stone dead.

Interesting snippet.....never owned any Slade...not sure I could name one song...but your mention of them has inspired me to listen to 'Slayed' on you tube.
Sounded like ACDC with some Brit pop sensibility tossed in.

With regards to SLADE in particular personally the only studio album that I like is called PLAY IT LOUD and was the bands 2nd studio album released in the UK in late 1970 when the band were in 'transition' from being a bunch of 'skinheads' (being skinheads was a publicity stunt suggested to them by their publicity agent and manager) to a high energy rock & roll band that also released a succession of 'hit singles' here in the UK during the first half of the 1970s.

With regards to the first vinyl 45 rpm singles that I bought I bought two when I was 14 years old in 1971 the first of which was The Who's 'Won't Get Fooled Again' the edited single version cos it received quite a bit of radio airplay on BBC Radio One back then and also Atomic Rooster's 'The Devils Answer' and again that single got quite a bit of radio airplay on BBC Radio One also during 1971
