I like Maniacal Renderings and Global Warning too without being enthusiastic about them. But Jon Oliva is on a descending path from album to album though. I was a little disappointed by Festival because of the lack of inspiration. So many recycled themes from the Savatage era. And when I listened to it, a few month ago, didn't rang any bells for me. It was boring. You don't have to avoid it. Maybe you will enjoy the album. You may find some good moments but so few for such a name.

I don't know a lot of the bands you and Bob posted DKW, but one album that has continued to grow on me is this one. I had to play it a few times before I really got into it, but I am a Huge GR fan admittedly so I enjoyed every minute of it. (I will post some others later, most of them are already listed though.:D)

I need to check out some of the releases on your list as well B.o.b. .

I haven't heard that many of the CDs listed here yet TBH.
And LG ,it's your list of favorites so it doesn't matter if they are already up :grinthumb

Just ordered : Avantasia ~ Angel of Babylon. Avantasia ~ The Wicked Symphony, been meaning to listen to them but ordered blind since they seem to be highly thought of where ever I go.

Avantasia is a great band, I think Tobias does better work in Avantasia than his other band EDGUY. This double CD was very good, and definitely is worth checking out for old or new fans.

Anthriel, a brand new discovery for me with a very solid debut album. Power/progressive/symphonic metal band from Finland. The piano work reminds me on some passages of Shadow Gallery. Highly recommended for the lovers of this metal genre.

Anthriel - Mirror Games from the album The Pathway

Anthriel - Devil's Lullaby

Anthriel on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

From blabbermouth:
With a style that is sure to appeal to fans of the likes of SYMPHONY X, ADAGIO and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, "The Pathway" is "an absolute monster offering, possessing an exceptionally high standard of songwriting from start to finish with first-class performances from all musicians," according to a press release. "The final icing comes in the guise of an ultra-powerful production which puts many of the genres leaders to shame."

Hailing from Finland, ANTHRIEL is described as "a neo-classical band with metal and progressive influences." The group was formed in 2004 by Timo Niemisto (guitar), Antti Hakulinen (keyboards), Jari Kuokkanen (drums) and Klaus Wirzenius (bass), but it wasn't until vocalist Simo Silvan joined in 2008 that the band really found its true direction.
