Well if I had to make a small list, I'd pick :

    - The eponymous album of Deftones
    - Themata...
-... AND Sound Awake by Karnivool ( a REAL musical obsession >_< )
    - With teeth by NIN
    - Vena Sera by Chevelle
    - The Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavoured Water by Limp Bizkit

None. Rock music has been on a slow, steady decline since approximately 1985. That's not to say that there aren't some artists making good music, but it has reached a point where it has all been said before and said better.

I would never have expected to see two Grandaddy records in one list. I own every song they ever recorded, one of my favourite bands. Now I know three people who enjoy them. Didn't like The Sophtware Slump as much as the others, but then again "Under the Western Freeway" was recorded in the 90s. "Sumday" would be my primary choice.
As for Jason Lytle's solo album, I was completely disappointed by it.

Which brings me to Stephen Malkmus. I remember his first solo tour. Went to a concert in Cologne, Germany. Malkmus refused to play any Pavement song which the crowd didn't appreciate. The new material just wasn't as catchy as his old stuff.
The best part of that night was his opener: Turin Brakes :D
It's one of those cases where the opening act outshines the main band.
