Exciterlogo.png are a Canadian speed metal band from Ottawa, Ontario. They are widely considered to be one of the first speed metal bands.

They consisted of vocalist and drummer Dan Beehler, guitarist John Ricci, and bassist Allan James Johnson. In 1980, the band recorded a demo which they then sent to Mike Varney of Shrapnel Records. Varney included one song from it, "World War III", on the compilation album US Metal Volume II in 1982. Shortly after that, the band were signed to Shrapnel Records. In 1983, they released their debut album, Heavy Metal Maniac.

Re: Exciter

Missed this thread, but after catching up they are not bad. My only complaint is the vocals are a little muted in the first song, the second song is a little better. I have heard of these guys before, but I never had any of their albums.

Thanks for "Digging" up this old band MP.

Re: Exciter

Which is the Best Produced album MP? I admit I found the two songs you posted lacking in quality, maybe the CD's sound better than the videos?

Re: Exciter

I have the Heavy Metal Maniac album on vinyl (the only one I own from this artist), and I love it. Totally brings back the old mid 80's thrash/speed feel.

Re: Exciter

I really like the first three albums a lot. I also fixed up the crappy sounding live album from that era with some recording software and it sounds pretty cool too, now that I "remastered" it.
