A new EP already? I'm not complaining. I don't know much about Attack on Titan, except that it's an anime series, so this will be brand new music to me. Looking forward to it.

The Score – An Epic Journey is an odd album that didn't seem to affect their release schedule, though I'm surprised Mark used the Epica name for it.

You are right, it does seem like a somewhat odd decision, but on the other hand, Mark probably figured he'd get more attention by releasing it as an Epica album.

Going back to the new "Epica vs Attack on Titan Songs" EP, here's a couple of new tracks:

Thing is, I never got into anime and so never heard anything associated with the show. Are these written by Mark or are they from the actual series, rearranged?

I hadn’t heard of "Attack On Titan" before they announced the EP. As far as I know, it's an EP of cover versions of songs from the show. I don't think you need any previous knowledge of the show or the music to enjoy the EP.

Since 2017, Epica have also released The Solace System (extra tracks from the Holographic Principle) and an album of B-sides, and coming in 2021 a new album Ωmega.
