That was the album that made me a Doors fan.
Mid/Late seventies. And I remember a friend had a "boombox".
They were actually kind of a new thing.
A bunch of us cut school and hung out at the "party spot" out back in the woods and listened to tunes all day while getting baked.
Strange Days made me stop and go "Holy shit! The Doors are ******* great man!"
Perfect soundtrack for a bunch of stoned teenagers cutting school.
We were strange. And proud.

My main memory of getting into The Doors is a slightly incongruous one, and doesn't really fit the stereotypical experience of most youngsters when they first turned onto them. January 1985 and I'm doing basic training in the RAF. I have distinct memories of having a mix of Doors tunes on a cassette tape and playing it loud in the evening in the barrack block while we all got our kit ready for inspection in the morning.
But I was trashed out of my tree when I first heard "An American Prayer". It did strange things to my mind. :tc:

To this day, there's hardly a playlist I make up that doesn't contain The Doors.
