Yep, That's it Magic, & for us guys...even if we didn't care for the music because "a Rocker has to hate Disco"... Disco = Dance Floor = Dancing = GIRLS!!!

As I said I hated for a few years because I was a rocker & felt I had to jump on the Disco Sucks bandwagon but once I got dragged up on the dance floor it was fun.

My most embarassing moment on the dance floor happened in the mid 80's when I was talking to a young lady who was wearing a white dress. I was always nervous around girls & was not very good on the dance floor but I always had fun. I was finally breaking out of my shy shell with girls a little & me & this girl were getting along throughout the night. Finally, as the end of the night was near "Careless Whisper" by Wham broke out (Yuck!) & this girl in the White Dress asked me to dance. Me??!!! Slow Dance??!!!!! AHHHH!!!!!!!!! I had no idea how to. It was fun dancing around to the Pointer Sisters & Grandmaster Flash but slow dance???? I accepted her offer to Dance & was a nervous wreck. She held me close & rested her head on my chest & then... I had a bloody nose right on her shoulder!! I was mortified & told her I had to be excused. I quickly ran out the door I was so upset!

That is a horrible story, Bucky. :( What a time to get a nose bleed, maybe your platform shoes were too high.

Will have to get back to this thread, and in Europe we had ABBA.
Not too sure how well they travelled, but they could fill a dance floor over here.

Yeah, nosebleeds were a problem for me as a little kid through my mid 20's. The strange thing is sometime after that night I had a hockey game & was hit across my nose with a stick. It bled pretty bad & I got 2 black eyes but I probably went 5 years without a nose bleed after that & I haven't had one since the late 90's.

I think my wife finally threw out my platform shoes. She always hated them for some reason (maybe because I'm 6'3 & with the 4 inch heels that puts me at 6'7"). They were a reddish brown patent leather platform shoe

but I always have to laugh nowadays if I hear Careless Whisper

ABBA was big here, too, in the disco scene. I believe this is why a lot of people shun them as a classic band, because of the Disco association.

I always liked Abba. On the TV show Community last week there was a halloween episode & at a halloween party the music was stuck on an Abba shuffle so that's what was heard in the background throughout the show. I always loved "Waterloo"

ABBA were insanely popular down under.

I think (not certain) that the largest proportion of their album sales came from Australia or something, they were huge.

LOL...a few years ago, I helped my brother and his wife pack to move out of state. I came out of their bedroom roaring with laughter because he still had his 70's platforms.........His wife roared too, because she still had her cork platforms, which were popular for the ladies.

I asked him if he was waiting on them to come back in style

:heheh:

My dad listens to disco, so I do even if I prefer from blues to black metal. Bands like Boney M, Dschingis Khan or Ottawan are the best to fill the gap I sometimes get if I don't know what to listen to. And not ABBA or Bee Gees, they are less catchy for me to be honest.
