To begin his assault on later era Deep Purple, EZ started out by admitting to being butthurt, over Blackmore leaving Rainbow, a band he admitted was sounding more like pop rock radio era Foreigner, then Rainbow themselves. He then goes on to say that Deep Purple aren't heavy at all and are pop, and have no progressive elements, both are very false and can be easily heard by anyone, if they bother to listen to the albums, and have any knowledge of music. Blackmore's patent trademark of classical music mixed with heavy rock guitar can be heard through out both Strangers and Battle, and to a lesser extent at times, on House. The same strong progressive element can be found though out in the key arrangements. That makes it progressive influenced if not out right prog rock...... They are obviously heavier then later era Rainbow.

I think what this really comes down to is a pop rock band ( at that time), Rainbow, disbanded and now someone is angry and only wants to spew out negativity toward the band that the main player left to play with.
I mean we all have our opinions and I like to think most of us are adult enough to just say them without throwing out musical insults that are not based on facts. I mean, I think they suck is more honest then, they suck because they aren't progressive or hard, when in fact they are, and the band they were originally being compared to is much less so in both departments ( post Dio ).

It can be interesting to hear what others have to say. However when personal vendettas are involved I lose interest in that persons opinions.

Just saying..

Deep Purple would have worn a formula thin if they kept doing a Machine Head type album all the time. I am glad they did different styles in their following releases. The House of Blue Light is to me a really great album, under rated actually.

I like House but there are a couple of tracks that are more pop rock AOR sounding I don't really care for. Other then that I like it though.

I also like the albums with Steve Morse. They are different in style, and I admit it took me awhile to warm to, but I really like them nowadays.
Not as much as early 70's up to Burn, Deep Purple, or even as much as the reformed MK II material. But I like them...anyone who wants to say it's because I like pop, or I'm not into prog, and I'm part of the big American buying machine, obviously has not done their homework :D

In your head maybe ...lol

You need to just accept that your opinion is only important to you and those of us who think for ourselves are not going to really care what you do or don't like as far as our own personal opinions are concerned.

Have fun trying to convince the world your opinions are NO.1 ..pretty sure no ones buying ...as for me I think I'll listen to some Deep Purple.

The miracles of the interwebz ..you can listen to music right in your own home w/o shelling out your hard earned cash first and decide what is good and worthy of purchasing for yourself these days. No more need to rely on some whacky dude at a the rock rags.... hoping that they give you a decent unbiased review. As if their opinion is really all that anyway....Bet that pisses all the self important fools at Rolling Stone etc. off to no end :heheh:

Bonus track from Perfect Strangers.
