I have always found he has a great voice for a drummer! :grinthumb

JOURNEY DRUMMER TO RECORD SOLO DEBUT:
In a surprising update, news has surfaced announcing that Journey drummer Deen Castronovo is working on his debut solo album. This has been called for by fans for several years now, based on Castronovo's fantastic Perry-channeling performances since taking up lead vocals on a few tracks each Journey concert. This is especially surprising to me as previously Journey management wouldn't even discuss the subject and Deen himself has deflected any talk of a solo outing. But regardless of this....it is on it's way and I for one can't wait to hear it.
From Deen's website: "A new update from Deen....he's still in the studio with Neal Schon and Marco Mendozza and they have recorded some killer new music! Also, two big announcements: First, Deen has his first SOLO album in the works. We can't share all the details yet but Deen is super excited about this new project and will fill us in with all the details when he can. Also, check back here in a few days to purchase your own Deen Castronovo t-shirt. All proceeds will benefit the Salem Boys and Girls Club, Deen's charity of choice! More details to follow later this week! Deen sends his best to everyone and is looking forward to seeing you all in 2011! "

I saw Deen sing most of the Journey songs a few years ago.It was Steve Augeri's last show with Journey and he tried to sing but he just couldn't do it so they turned it over to Deen.

I've only heard him on back-up vocals but when I read the credits on the new Journey album all the musicians sing which is rare.

I'll be curious to see how his solo album does when it's released.

If he was recording with Neal Schon and Marco Mendoza, that wud be 3/4 of Soul SirkUS and that was a great album so I wud expect it to be very good. For anyone that hasn't seen Journey's Live In Manila DVD just check that out to see how damn good a vocalist Deen is!
