Hey guys! It's your resident Classic Rock student here! I've learned a lot so far! I actually bought three c.d.s today because of CRF! I bought three c.d.s from three bands I was familiar with but void of material from them until now. I bought Black Sabbath, Styx and Boston. Here's the trap! When looking for older artist that I didn't grow up with album by album I wimp out and just buy hits collections. The thing is I like individual albums best but never know which one to get. I would like your help. I have the Rhapsody program online so I can stream nearly anything out there and listen to it with few exceptions (ex. The Beatles) So I'm hoping to put a series of artist that I don't have the true album experience with and have you guys recommend the best one from that artist and I'll take a vacation from my normal music catalog and listen to them.

Here are the specifications:

-Please only give me one recommendation per artist per poster! I want to know that ONE album is your favorite! :grinthumb

-No live albums please! I want to hear an album constructed with no extended versions of songs or a collection of hits strung together like a greatest hits!

-Don't be too obscure even if it's a great c.d. your trying to recommend! I want a main release from the catalog released where there's a good chance Rhapsody will have it!

Here are the five artist I'll throw out now to start with!

Bruce Springsteen-I only own one Greatest Hits Album from The Boss and I've honestly never gone through an actual album by him. I keep hearing how great his albums are and I'm interested!

Styx-I saw several cheap c.d.s ($7-$9) by them and had no clue which was which! What's the best overall?

The Doors-Even my tie for favorite Classic Rock band has only a 2 Disc Hits collection in my possession! I really would love to get into them deeper!

Megadeth-I own nothing by these guys! I honestly like the handful of songs I've heard from them and like Dave Mustaine's vocals but never pursued their music! Recommendations?

Rush-Everyone on here is obsessed with Rush so I really want to hear what people are raving about! They sound like an album band!

First off, thanks for taking the time to give me some ideas! I will wait a couple days to give people time to respond and for now I'll just listen to the album from each artist that gets the most nods! It should be fun to explore these albums seriously! Peace! :grinthumb

Okay even though you didn't list Sabbath as one of the bands..

Get SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH!! Rick Wakeman was on that too and not only has the killer title track but National Acrobat & Spiral Architect.

I see you are getting plenty of help in here Bry.

Bruce Springsteen, Born to Run is his best, but I liked Born in the USA as well.

Styx, Grand Illusion great album, Pieces of Eight would be the other must have.

The Doors....no opinion...I only have their greatest hits.

Rush...Moving Pictures, in my opinion one of the best hard rock albums ever recorded, it's in my top 50 albums of all time.

Megadeth...I agree with MP's choice.

Sabbath...I like all of the early Ozzy period albums, the self titled first one is where I started so it has a sentimental value to me.

Honestly, I don't have an opinion for most of your choices, but I will absolutely give a huge endorsement for Born to Run. One of my all time favorite albums.

Also a thumbs up for Moving Pictures by Rush.
