Re: Camel

A great album for putting through the headphones, right up there with some of the best prog works IMO. Peter Bardens, Doug Ferguson, Andy Ward And Andrew Latimer .. sublime musicians. Great stuff.

Re: Camel

:grinthumb The Camel 'Live' album is well worth adding to your 'Camel estate' :D L.G. The live version of Snow Goose with a full orchestra accompanying them is breath taking...imhoa.

:cheers2 Bryter.

Re: Camel

Camel are underrated. Just picked up Moonmadness and am really enjoying it. Great sounds and things, and the Spirit of the Water vocal effect reminds me a little of the liquid voice in Genesis' Fountain of Salmacis.

Re: Camel

I certainly do not agree that The Snow Goose is their best record. Far from it.

In my view it is in order:

Mirage
Moonmadness
Camel
Rain Dances
Nude
The Snow Goose
Breathless

After that they were a spent force.

I saw them umpteen times in their heyday and they were superb live.

The extended A Live Record (if my memory serves it has an additional seven tracks to the original vinyl) is well worth owning

Camel were indeed a superb band that are rarely far away from my CD players

Robust stuff?

Not 'arf!

Re: Camel

I have a about three Camel LPs that I got used .They are way run down though
they don't skip but I can tell that they are worn out .I need to DL some of their stuff to give 'em an honest chance.

I think what I'm not liking about them is just due to the very dull sounding worn vinyl.

We will have to differ my learned friend

We will have to differ

TSG to my old ears, whilst still robust, is somewhat lacklustre compared to the giants such as Mirage, Camel; and Moonmadness.

Treat yourself this weekend - give Nude another listen.

It was a mighty fine tour too

ROBUST STUFF!
