^^ I agree with you that Peter has had no solo hits, but outside of Ace's version of "New York Groove" who else in KISS has had a solo hit? Am I missing some forgotten gems? I'd actually like to hear them.

Ace had a few songs that made the charts in his solo career (either as "Ace Frehely" or "Frehley's Comet". Peter has had none. Gene had one solo album about 10 years back that was purposefully campy and Paul has only had one solo album, that also had one song on the charts and even made it into an episode of South Park.

As far as the KISS/solo albums, Peter might have co-written maybe half of the songs on his, while Gene, Ace and Paul all wrote most of the stuff on theirs.

Hidden Gems, well, that's all in the eye of the beholder. I like most of Ace's solo stuff but he has a lot more to choose from over Gene and Paul who each only have 1 solo album (again, outside of that KISS/Solo stuff). Peter's solo stuff has never done anything for me. I don't say that because I don't like him, just that once he was out of KISS, he pretty much dropped off of the map for me, which is a huge reason why I don't get all worked up over Eric Singer being in the band over Peter Criss.

Peter IS a one-hit wonder if you get right down to it. His "one hit" with the band was Beth, which we've been told really wasn't even him so much as the other two guys. Peter's solo career is filled with zero hits. KISS on the other hand is NOT a one-hit wonder and with the creative team (like them or not) surrounding Peter, you'd think that if the other guys in the band could come up with numerous hit songs, why couldn't Peter... unless of course if Peter didn't really come up with any.

I think that's the point Paul was trying to make with that comment. (just guessing though).

a guy who's written a LOT of songs and been in one of the most successful and long-lasting bands of all time doesn't know what he's talking about? Heh, ok, if you say so.

The facts speak for themselves on this issue. He can be Mozart for all the difference it makes, if you make wide sweeping generalizations about music that even the first day interns at a no-name startup label know are bullshit, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. No reason to defend him just because his band is good, that doesn't necessarily mean he knows everything about music. I certainly don't have anything against him (I'm not very fond of Gene, but Paul's never given me any problems), facts is facts though and he was talking pure nonsense in this instance.
