Thanks very much, will check 'em out. Not a compilation man unless I absolutely have to. Still in love with the long player and everything that comes with it!

Me too, I don't intend on buying anymore compilation CD's for the foreseeable future.;)

From what I remember Bob Seger initially made his reputation with his live performances. I'm more into his older material and honestly have barely listened to his newer music. Live Bullet is supposed to be quite good. I had (probably still have it) a cassette of Nine Tonight I used to play the heck out of. As far as studio albums I would say check out Night Moves - I think that is supposed to be considered his "classic" album.

Jim Steinman ... definitely appalling as a producer. I would put his songs more into the "guilty pleasure" category from where I sit. Admittedly there is a certain ... for lack of a better word ... sameness to his songs yet I have this odd fascination for them!

Steinman also wrote some of the songs on the Streets of Fire movie soundtrack ... another guilty pleasure in itself ... and this might actually be embarrassing for me to admit *gulp* but he wrote one of the few Celine Dion songs I actually *gulp* like - It's all coming back to me now.

Not a great fan of Halls of Fame generally, but if you're going to have one for songwriters, then nobody could argue against these three with the amazing track record they have. Seger's best albums for my money Coltrane were Stranger in Town and Against the Wind both from the late 70's...and also 'Live Bullet' is as good a 'live' rock n roll album as you will ever hear, there's an amazing version of 'Katmandu' on there that I need to dig out and play again.

Thanks guys. Nice tips. Sounds like I should start with Live Bullet in terms of BS and TSBB.

^^I would personally rate Night Moves ahead of Against the Wind and Stranger In Town both were good but also the beginning of Bob Seger mellowing out. If you play Live Bullet you'll see what I mean instantly Coltrane.

Isn't Total Eclipse... Bonnie Tyler's biggest hit?

Yes it is. Jim wrote it for Meat as well as "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" but the record company wouldn't pay the royalties for it so Jim gave them to Bonnie and Air Supply.

Night Moves is definitely better than those two.

I have no problem with Jim getting in, it sort of makes up for other HOF's being morons when it comes to deserving artists.;)

Steinman also wrote Bonnie Tyler's Holding Out For A Hero from the Footloose soundtrack

Read Em And Weep by Barry Manilow(first done by Meat Loaf).I don't think I have ever heard this song but I read that it made #18 on the top 100 and #1 on the adult contemporary chart in 1983
