rt..certain bands got me interested in the new music when 'punk' came to England in 1976. Rocket From The Tombs, Iggy & The Stooges and the likes of MC5 i was well into and then PubRock started with Eddie & The Hot Rods, Dr.Feelgood etc..the next thing on the cards was a logical step in the form of The Damned and The Pistols. The Johnny Thunders gig was electric..and in a smallish Club..things were difficult also as i was wearing some of my Dads old sword fencing gear and odd shoes!
One Doc Martin ( sprayed ) the other ..a spiked golf shoe.It was cramped and i was right in front of Billy Wrath..who was in PVC and battered converses.
By the time they unleashed Get Off The Phone...the place resembled Chernobyl..good times indeed.
( know what you mean about stories..if i get a little repetitive..a smack in the nuts via a stern post..works for me!)

Cool read here! I'm a huge Thunders fan(Probably right up there with Alice Cooper, NY Dolls, Stones, & Kiss all tied for my favorite artists) Anyway, I was front row for my hero Johnny Thunders & right upfront for the Ramones too which were both better than phenomenal shows but being upfront for Iggy was unbelievable & unexplainable!!!!!

Think it might have been The Roundhouse that St.Johns Ambulance Crew( first aiders) escorted Mr.Pop stage left..to dress his wounds..during some Kill City tunes he rolled about in just a few broken Bud bottles...which in that time- was not an easy beer to come by in the uk.
Added to the overall feel of the gig!
    The Damned -Problem Child.
Those days, there was no back screens or camera galleys- you were up close and personal..i shared a bottle of wine with Cpt.Sensible( Buckfast.) i think...whilst he was playing. Wasn't unheard of that the Roadies handed us tins of Colt45 beer to get us fucking mad!

Gonna post this to dispel all those shitty TV researhers that get it so wrong when dating props and clothing for television and film..kop the audience..no mohawk or diaper pins thru' the septum..or leathered up like Gene Vincent on a quaalude burger..just young kids in jeans and jackets...fucked off with bread strikes, Ted Heath, Belfast, Donny Osmond, no future and shit pay!
    Sham 69 - Borstal Breakout.
    (Hershams best band.)
