Alvin Lee is one of the most underrated and overshadowed guitarists in rock history. He should be considered to be higher than what anyone has ranked him on various lists, and some don't even rank him at all. Never saw much of a point in those, anyway. But he and his band deserved far more recognition. Cricklewood Green is a grand album.

Mott the Hoople are legendary, as well. Thankfully, Bowie came along for them when they planned to ultimately split...

Trower... he is also good. Haven't heard as much as I'd like to, sadly.

Thank you and kudos for that... Alvin Lee, and his band were underrated very
much. So was Mott. I saw them both live in their prime, 1973, and both
shows were unforgettable. TYA rocked a full house of 10K down to their
sneakers, and Mott the Hoople headlined a show opened by Aerosmith
and the New York Dolls. Ian and the gang rocked that town, hot'lanta.
It was Hallows Eve wknd and we raided the costume closet at the theatre
department at school on Hallows Eve weekend and headed to the show.
Ian was playing a clear see-through guitar shaped like an H and the boys
were in all their high-heeled finery. It was splendid, fun times indeed.

Wait a minute... I've tried covering this thread back a cupla years, mebe I missed it.
But what about Be Bop Deluxe w/ incendiary guitar ace Bill Nelson? Axe Victim,
Sunburst Finish and Modern Music were classics. Drastic Plastic was a master too.
Listened to a lot of that stuff in the late 70's...

Has anyone ever heard of Stray? Great band from the 70's that I have only recently discovered.
