Exile actually crossed over into country music and do MUCH better as a country band.

THEE most forgotten band od 70s is definately The Dog That Bit People. Their only-released album is awesome. They could have bright future, too bad they didn't :(
Sweet progressive folk, sounds like Led Zepp III

Dog That Bit People- Sound Of Thunder

it certainly does sound like Zep, a mixture of Zeppelin and Yes would describe that perfectly I think, I'm not much for the psychedelic side of either band myself, but they are definitely cool:grinthumb

Don't know if this band was mentioned or not, but I believe Edison Lighthouse released Love Grows(Where My Rosemary Goes) in early 1970? Lip-syncing was an art back then..lol.

Kind of a catchy tune. More pop than rock though. Some may think they should be "best forgotten" as they really were a studio band and only used to further the career of lead singer Tony Burrows.

Ok, I scanned over this thread and have to say that many of the bands mentioned are no where near being forgotten? Steve Miller Band? You can hardly go a day without hearing one of his many hits on the radio!

And many of the bands that were mentioned aren't so much forgotten as they ignored...neglected...under appreciated...however you wish to put it by a music and radio industry that has come to care more about great profits than great music.

There are 2 bands that I didn't see as I scanned through the previous posts (that's not to say that I didn't miss them).

I respectfully submit:

The Stooges

Nice to see some respect for the Stooges Travelin' Man, but weren't they just inducted into the R & R Hall of Fame? So I guess someone must think highly of Iggy and his boys.

Yes they were and rightfully so. This recognition was, however, long overdue in my opinion. There are so many bands that list The Stooges as an influence. And while they finally received some much deserved credit, you still don't hear them on the radio. I live just outside of Detroit, 45 miles from their hometown of Ann Arbor and even here, in an area that is WELL aware of them, they don't get the airplay they deserve.

I'm not suggesting that they need to be heard on a daily basis. I'm just saying that it would be nice to hear them at all.....without it being some sort of special occasion.

I have no clue if they're forgotten or not, or even ever brought to the attention!

The kids?
