Beethoven

Not only did he compose his masterpieces when he was virtually deaf but he conducted his new Symphonies to the orchestra. Now that is nearly like driving a car blindfolded.

and he did all of it in 57 years.

One of the all time great composers no doubt ....but I would rather listen to Bach and Mozart when enjoying classical music.
Their melodies resonate more with me.

first thing our music teacher played for us in 6th grade was beethoven,s 5th.

Beethoven was a thorough improviser in music, I often hear in his works how he varies the same theme in different ways and he had this way of playing something incredibly serious with utter intent and then the next line would be complete frivolity in melody which would for a moment disarm me...!
