MP thank you for posting that song, I've always hated it,, but I gave it another listen and liked it
My last BTO album entry, recorded in 1975 "Head On". While looking for the cover to post I couldn't find a good picture of the original. When I bought the record in '75 the front cover was a picture of Randy Bachman's face, no one else was on it, but I'll post the inside cover picture of the whole band instead, seeing it's the last time this line-up recorded together.
This was the end of BTO with Randy in the band, he left after this album, you can even hear his unhappiness in the songs he wrote, just listen to "Average Man" and you'll come away with the unmistakable conclusion he has reached the end of his tenure with the band. While saddened that one the most important bands to me was changing, losing their leader, at least they left a really good album behind so I can't complain, it was a great ride with BTO when I was growing up and I still like them.
It's Over...kind of foretells the future.
Edit: It's been brought to my attention that Randy Bachman in fact Did write most of the songs for the next album and that it was in reality the last new studio BTO record of the 70's with the classic line-up and he was a big part of Freeways. I apologize for my mistake on the information, the source I used read like Head On was the last album he was involved on, and that is what I used for the background. I have never owned Freeways, and can't honestly remember One song off it, still I will double check my sources the Next time I write the eulogy for a departing member of a band I like.

I liked "It's Over" and "Average Man" right away and eventually warmed up to "Find Out About Love" and "Take It Like A Man", but that's pretty much it for me for this album. You're right though, LG... not much of a swan song from these guys. But considering all the great albums that also came out in 1975, I didn't sulk for very long over this album.
They were still a big part of my musical developement from my youth so they'll always have sentimental value to me. I rediscovered them after musical directions began shifting in the mid-90's and, happily, I have been listening to their back catalogue off and on ever since.

Take It Like A Man is my pick from the record KMET. I still like the album, but you could tell that it was a signpost in the road for BTO.
I agree with your summation and would add my thanks to everyone who participated in this thread for a band I still love.
Epilogue, I think MP has a copy of Freeways,,,the next album I don't so it's up to him to carry the torch now.

I've always liked this album! This was the first BTO album that I bought not too long after it was first released. Yes, I wore it out, too! 
The old HiFi's stereos of the day weren't too kind on quite a few records then.
Testing my memory again, somewhat. I believe it was originally a fold-out type album jacket, that turned into a poster, at least the one that I had did that.
Although this album might not be as popular as "Not Fragile" with not too many of these songs getting much airplay that I remember, as did a few from "Not Fragile", I've always enjoyed many songs on this one. "Find Out About Love" "It's Over" "Wild Spirit" are all excellent, and when they are playing the volume level somehow finds itself majorly increased on my stereo!

Lord Grendel, you say that you are a BTO fan and you say that Head On was the last BTO album with Randy Bachman. WOW !!!! Any BTO fan would know that Freeways was the last BTO album with Randy Bachman. That is very easy to confirm, just look at the writing credits of the songs on Freeways. Several songs are all Randy Bachman. Shotgun Rider, Down Down and My Wheels Won't Turn are just a few of them. Get your facts straight.
^^You log in to make One post about the fact Freeways was Randy's last BTO album? Oh well I guess I should have dug a little deeper but the fact remains Freeways was a disaster for the band, and I already posted that I don't Own the album, so if that slipped past me I'll admit my error.
Let me rephrase my position, Head On was the Last really good BTO record, the follow up Freeways performed poorly commercially and was not well liked by the core BTO fan base which includes me, despite the fact Randy had pretty much total control of the album.
