The 80's was a great decade for rock, from the early releases from Motorhead, Ozzy, Sabbath, the rise of thrash (Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax) hair rock (Poison, Crue, Faster Pussycat) this decade had it all, if only there was such a thing as a Hot Tub Time Machine:oyea:

Iron Maiden and then Metallica ,i.e. real metal, is what saved the 80's from pop crap. the metal from the 80's is still the best metal IMO.
