1. Krokus from Switzerland
2. Mammoth (not the Van Halen one but a British Band)
3. Tygers of Pan Tang
4 Helix

Any obscure or long forgotten bands you know? It's amazing how many bands were big in the UK but never made it to the stares and vice versa.

Thanks for reading :****:

I remember them all except Mammoth, I have all of Krokus albums (and a few bootlegs), I'm a big fan, have been since the 80s, I do have a Tigers of Pan Tang & Helix album or two ..I think.

Here's a few obscure bands from the 80s, that I liked back then.

Leatherwolf
Junkyard
Babylon AD
Orion The Hunter

Here is all the info I could find about Mammoth (Van Halen first named his band Genesis but when he found out it was already in use he changed it to Mammoth before David Lee Roth suggested calling the band Van Halen. This is NOT that Mammoth)

Mammoth

John McCoy, formerly with the band Gillan, recruited session drummer Vinnie "Tubby" Reed, guitarist "Big" Mac Baker and vocalist Nicky Moore to form a band initially called Dinosaur. The name was already in use by a Californian band, so McCoy renamed his new outfit Mammoth. The name was also a tongue-in-cheek reference to the large size of the band members: McCoy weighed 120 kg (19 st), Reed 140 kg (22 st), Baker 152 kg (23.9 st), and Moore 127 kg (20.0 st).

The band toured with Whitesnake and Marillion and were well received by fans. They released one single, "Fatman", and two albums, XXXL and Larger And Live. In 1988, the entire band appeared in the film Just Ask For Diamond, playing the henchmen. Musically, commercial success eluded them however and the band eventually split in 1989, with McCoy becoming an independent producer.

Of course! Krokus in my personal Top-20 of favorite bands, and Tygers are very decent representatives of NWOBHM. :)

I've listened to Junkyard, didn't they do a song called Simple Man? (Not to be confused with Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man, two totally different songs.)

I remember all of them, but remember Babylon AD the most. Very cool band. I think I only had their first two albums, but both rocked pretty good.

I live in Buffalo, NY
I listen to Krokus and Helix regularly! :grinthumb

I listen to Krokus & Helix quite a bit also. I love Helix's cover of Crazy Elephant's "Gimme Gimme Good Lovin'"

I was also heavy into Junkyard's debut & Babylon AD's debut when they first came out. I still enjoy Junkyard but haven't pulled out Babylon in years.

One of my favorites from back then is the Dogs D'Amour who I never grow tired of listening to
