As much as this will shock many of you, I'm not a fan of Bob Dylan. I find the covers of his songs (such as All Along the Watchtower by Jimi) much better than his works.

I agree PF, the Dylan original is bland compared to some of the covers.

I've never heard a better version than Jimi's.

But of all the people who have recorded it over the years, I think the most interesting is Michael Hedges' version.

Finally, someone who knows Michael Hedges!!!! Hedges is one of those acoustic players who has a phenominal stage performance, he gets into his music with his whole body. His version is awesome :)


another decent version is Jeff Healey. Watch his finger and hand work in this video, outstanding if you ask me:
