If you listened to Aerosmith‘s ‘Music From Another Dimension!‘ album and thought, “These guys could have done better,” it sounds like at least one of the band members agrees with you.
In a recent interview with the VH1 Radio Network, guitarist Brad Whitford admitted to some dissatisfaction with the band’s 2012 LP, which debuted to mixed reviews and somewhat disappointing sales last November. “We have a lot of issues with the last record now,” he said. “We felt like … I don’t know, we feel like we missed the mark a little bit, and I’m not quite sure what we would’ve done different, but we feel like we should’ve done something a little different — but I don’t think we know what it was.” (Here’s our suggestion!)
That vague feeling of having missed the mark somehow continued to echo throughout Whitford’s thoughts on the album. “We had a good time making it, but I don’t know if the material that we did really translated,” he said. “Maybe we’re a little bit stuck in the way we do things. I don’t know. We kind of did it old school and thought we were going in the right direction, but … I don’t know. I don’t know.”
The silver lining for fans is that, according to Whitford, the band still has “a lot of creative juices flowing” for a future release — although he was quick to admit that he has no idea how or when that might take shape. “Maybe we’ll experiment a bit more in maybe the writing process and stuff,” he mused. “Maybe we need to go back and do some more…maybe bring in some more contemporary people to work with, and maybe take a few twists and turns. I don’t know.”
I think Brad is being as honest as he can without saying what is really on his mind...........the album was not good at all. The pre-release hype set the stage for fans expecting a return to the roots sound, instead we got a couple decent songs and a bunch of filler.
****y'alll know I love Aerosmith, my fav band. I was disappointed in Music From Another Dimension*****
Aaaargh sometimes I hate my tablet! I had a long drawn out view on what Whitford said & it magically disappeared as I was finishing typing it. Anyway, I lost my train of thought now but basically agreed with Magic!
Man I am really starting to feel OLD.....36 years...where'd it go? I can remember being in my friends basement, jamming to this album, playing pool, and sneaking some booze and giggle smokes!
Anyway, Kings and Queens in one of my all time fave songs off Draw the Line
I have this album (vinyl) hanging on the wall in my fort.
I Wanna Know Why and Milk Cow Blues are my favorites.
Kings and Queens is epic, and Bright Light Fright is frappin' crunchy !
It's a miracle this album even got made.
According to the doc, Perry was deeeeeep in his addiction,(I guess they all were) and holed up in the top floor of this big house they were recording in. He was actually shooting holes in the walls with a pistol.
Any time there are live rounds in the studio, it's not good.
Checkmate, don't be late
Take another pull
That's right
impossible
When you got to be yourself
You're the boss of the toss
The dice, the price
Grab yourself a slice
Nowhere to draw the line
I am pretty sure this is correct. Got the lyrics from aeroforce
