I'm glad they didn't try to rehash any of the 1970s material. I understand many were disappointed by the album but for me I am really glad they didn't take a backwards step and try to repeat the past glories. I enjoy the album just fine on its merits much on the same lines as I like the Van Halen album now except this one was a hit for me first go whereas the VH album required a bit of time to grow.
But I respect everyones views, this is just my take on the new album, I enjoyed every second of it and am pleased they didn't try to repeat something of the past. I also understand this won't be a popular opinion either which is fine by me, this is my honest 2 cents on the album.

But they did go backwards; this is the same sound as Get A Grip and that was 19 years ago!

And I loved Get a Grip also. Guess we gotta agree to disagree, I respect the fact many were disappointed by this release, I even understand why but in the end I care about only how the music affected me as a listener and I enjoyed the whole thing. To each their own, I don't feel like they took a backwards step. Can't put my finger on why but I actually like the new album more than Get a Grip, the only albums I hold higher for me personally (as favourites) are Night In The Ruts and Nine Lives.
