ADAM LAMBERT 'Would Love' To Record New Music With QUEEN - July 13, 2012
"American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert has revealed he "would love" to make an album of original material with legendary British rockers QUEEN.

QUEEN's Roger Taylor and Brian May joined forces with Lambert for a series of European dates, including two shows at London, England's Hammersmith Apollo this week.

When asked during a live web chat with Capital FM if he would be interested in recording new material with QUEEN, Adam replied (see video below), "Yeah, I mean, I would love to work with them in any capacity in the future. I don't think I would turn any offer down. I mean, they're amazing. I don't know what that would be, but hey…"

Lambert said last month that he knows that he can't replace Freddie Mercury in his shows fronting QUEEN — but he doesn't intend to let anyone down either. He told the Daily Mail that when he performs with the remaining members of QUEEN, he will learn from the experience.

He said, "We want to keep the music alive and give it an energy that would have made Freddie proud. You can't replace him. But playing with QUEEN is the best thing that could happen to me. My intention is to pay tribute to Freddie. I'm looking forward to spending time with Brian and Roger. I want to make myself familiar with their more obscure songs and hear some stories from the guys themselves. I'll get my own personal QUEEN documentary. Working with them is going to be a great honor, but I'm also very keen for people to hear my own music, so who knows what the future will hold?"

Queen without Freddie is an oxymoron...:nw:

Paul Rodgers did a decent job for the one of album/tour, if I were Roger and Brian just retire the name please and thank you.

Not taking anything away from Adam Lambert but there is Nobody who can fill Freddie's shoes, one of the bands that can't be separated from their "voice" and that is a compliment of the highest order.

What's the fuss all about? Just do it but don't credit it under Queen and everyone is happy.

^^Most likely they want to use the "cachet" having an album released with the "Queen" name, makes for more sales and attention than if they did something and called it "May Taylor and Lambert".

I guess there is nothing wrong with them using the band they've been part of for decades but it just doesn't sit right with me.

^ Word for word, except for the everyone is happy part.

The initial reaction, I had was, how pretentious and disrespectful, inviting yourself to join Queen.

However, I read it again, a little more objectively, and he doesn't say he wants to join Queen. He said wants to record with them.

I don't have a problem with that, and I like to think the rest of Queen would be protective of Freddie's memory.

I don't know if they were calling themselves Queen when they toured with Paul Rodgers a few years back, or if it was Queen & Paul Rodgers. Freddie wasn't singing, so I wasn't listening.

Anyhow, this Lambert cat, upon 2nd reading, seems to want to record with Queen (DUH! who wouldn't?), doing not just Queen cuts, but some of his own.

It might be shirt tail riding, sure. But how dumb would you have to be to be not at least try? I mean, this is Queen, man.

This guy is the 21st Century version of Adam Ant, and we all know how long that guy hung around.
