Rhythm guitarist, Malcolm Young and his wife Linda and son Ross travelled to the isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides to find out more about her past, where he discussed plans for AC/DC’s future.

He confirmed they’re working on a potential follow-up to 2008′s Black Ice. But he warned fans are in for a longer wait than expected, after singer Brian Johnson suggested there would be new material next year.

Young explained: “You know what Brian’s like. He just says things and then walks away. It’ll be a little while – a year or two anyway.

“I’ve been doing some jamming on some song ideas but I do that all the time, as do the rest of the band. We are still working. But we had a long rest between Stiff Upper Lip and Black Ice, so I think we need a couple of years to recuperate and work on it a bit more.”

He added it’s unlikely any world tour in support of a future release will grow to the scale of the AC/DC Black Ice trek, which lasted almost two years and sold nearly five million tickets.

I would welcome a new album but I think it is great that they take a break, it must hard work doing a world tour and you don't want to churn out album after album just for the sake of it.

I have to agree I am glad they don't just churn album after album out. I really loved Black Ice, Stiff Upper Lip and Ballbreaker. All were pretty lengthy gaps between each CD. I am quite excited for a new album. :grinthumb

Black Ice was brilliant. Next album out in a year or two makes it just about the right gap of 5/6 years I guess. Won't mind at all.

I love AC/DC and would LOVEa new album as well.

I DO find it funny, that Malcolm would be all, it's gonna be a while like a year or two, been working on riffs.

I mean...no matter how GREAT they are and THEY ARE, how long does it REALLY take for them to toss together AC/DC riffs at this point??? :heheh:

Anyway, really looking forward to some new sounds!! :cheers2

It actually doesn't take that long. Black Ice only took about 5-6 weeks to make.
A new Ac/dc album I know will be awesome. They haven't released an album I dislike.

They're always good for a bit of fun, anytime really.

I always try to tell people, that don't like them, to listen to them and have fun. That's what they're all about.

Let's face it...sometimes you just have to party. :grinthumb
