Thrown like a star in my vast sleep
I open my eyes to take a peep
To find that I was by the sea
Gazing with tranquillity.
'Twas then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love,
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Histories of ages past
Unenlightened shadows cast
Down through all eternity
The crying of humanity.
'Tis then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Comes singing songs of love,
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Comes singing songs of love.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Here comes the roly poly man and he's singing songs of love,
Roly poly, roly poly, roly poly, poly he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang,
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang

I apologize for resurrecting this thread but I am really into spiritual themes in rock. Good call on YES. Lot's of Moody Blues stuff too actually(although their lyrics seem to be more about inner peace and serenity than overtly spiritual imo).
Moody Blues- The Voice
" " - The balance
Kansas- carry on my wayward son (next to YES I think Kansas probably had the most spiritual themes of any "classic rock" band).
" -The Wall
The Who- The Seeker (Pete Townshend was into mystical and spiritual stuff although he didn't hit the listeners over the head with it. He was rather subtle about it most of the time).
Pete Townshend- Let my love open the door (he meant the song to be about god's love)
The Police- Secret Journey (this is apparently about the teachings of Gurdjieff)
Led Zeppelin- In the Light - I imagine this song has mystical or spiritual overtones.
" " - Kashmir
YES- Awaken
" - More or less the entire tales from topographic Oceans album.
RUSH - I know they are atheists or at least their lyrics would seem to indicate as much but there are some spiritual and self development themes and lyrics in some of their stuff. I can't think of any off the top of my head but I know if you dig deep enough you'll find them.
The Beatles - Within without you (George apparently was very spiritual)
