Ouch, now you're pushing some buttons. GNR are my favorite band. I have a lot of respect for Axl. I've collected countless bootleg videos, magazines, bios etc. I don't know the guy, but I understand a lot of his behavior.

interesting point, before the UYI tour, no show was stopped due to something being thrown at the stage. Axl started trying to maintain some control after two fans were killed at Dongington.

I'm a G N' R fan too! Don't get me wrong! Remember I even said Chinese Democracy was great! I'm just saying even rock stars can be divas! I'm not immune to taking my own favorites to task. I know Billy Corgan is a jerk to many and he must be a pain to work with. Being an artist usually means you are susceptible to being eccentric and having many bad personal traits! :)

Agree on that one. Part of my first post on this thread said that rock stars mostly suffered from some form of mental illness of childhood trauma. - except for maybe Mick Jagger.

I'm finding as I get out of touch with current bands that the same thing happens.
Each new generation replaces the old. You might have a few who adore the old rockers but for the most part, The new generations lay claim to their own gods of rock as being the far better. It's funny but you can beat your head against the wall trying to discuss such a topic because they don't get "moved" as you would about a certain older band and they feel like they need to stay within their own generation as far as being hip to what their friends consider great bands or music.
It's the wheel of life turning around and round. :D

It's all about Identifying to lyrics and music for each generations.. At one time Soot and Stars posted a thread about Black Sabbath's song "Planet Caravan".
He said he just didn't get what was so special about THAT song.
But... if you were a teen when that album came out (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath) you would relate to it as being a in between track that leads to a better track right after it.
Song order was something you anticipated when spinning a album. You would have to pick the needle up and move it to the next tune if you didn't like the song. So most would just spin the whole side.
I hope I didn't derail your topic in this thread but you posted another thread about music changing or good musicians are hard to find, so I thought I'd jump in here and give the cheapest opinion in town. :heheh:

Rock stars are seen in the individuals eyes only.
The industry only makes it more of a global opinion based on what or who they feel needs to be popular..

Isn't Planet Caravan on the Paranoid album?? But I get your general point nonetheless. You had to have been there! :D

LOL. I was going to post that it was on Paraoind, but I was beaten to the mark.

I get the point. My opinion of a rock star is someone who transcends the band and the fans and becomes a household name. I wasn't a fan of Oasis, but I know who the Liam Gallagher is. There doesn't seen to be anyone around doing that.

And hip hop artist are NOT rock stars.
