Definitely not a fan of rap music in general but I actually like the BB's album Check Your Head and some their other material .

RIP to Adam.
Haven't heard a great deal of Beastie Boys, I did like what I heard though.

What a coincidence that this happens after a rare civil conversation of the merits and drawbacks of a genre The Beasties helped revolutionized. Before Vanilla Ice commercially and Eminem artistically broke down further color barriers in Rap/Hip-Hop The Beasties had opened that door wider than it had ever been. They weren't just rappers. They were rockers, they were artist and they were pioneers. Also, Adam with The Beastie Boys did a lot for causes and charities without all the pomposity of a lot of rock stars. They were genuine in their conviction to change the world for the better. You know with the reputation of rappers to do nothing but shoot at each other and do mass amounts of drugs how ironic is it that Adam tragically battled and lost to Cancer which is a rarity among a lot of the recent self induced passings. I'm not saying to disrespect the others but that it doesn't matter what your genre, their are those that control their demons better than others even in Hip-Hop. I always saw The Beasties despite their frat boy image at one phase as one of the most mature, enduring socially conscious forces in music. I'm glad Adam doesn't have to suffer anymore! R.I.P. Adam! :cheers2

47 is too young to die like this, and of what he thought was a treatable disease, so this is very sad. Like Sooty says, Beastie Boys and Adam Yauch were quite radical with what they did at the time, so many kids embraced them that they were huge, and of course they gave us THE best fun frat-house party record, maybe ever?...
