Let Me Take You Down To 1967!

oddly, I had no idea it was a monkees tune, written by Nesmith, as I had heard first the Paul Butterfield Blues Band version....

    Returnee from Plainview NY

I've been elsewhere for quite some time, but the Forum administrator sent a letter so I thought it'd be great to get involved in music discussions here once again..........I engage in them at another site, and on Facebook, but there were some very ardent fans here; "warning', I do not engage in...

    Listen to who I discovered

I really enjoy the fairly contemporary female country singers, they really have become cross over rock and folksingers....like Patty Loveless, Suzie Bogguss, and Kathy Mattea, Rosanne Cash another......they weren't from the 60's and 70's, but they fit in nicely with the expanded genres I collect.

    Listen to who I discovered

I too have not outgrown the loves of my youth with music....but I've added quite a few........I liked Dylan up to Planet Waves I suspect it was.....his voice over the last 4 or 5 albums is not appealing to me, and oddly enuff, as Dylan came upon us, he was wordy like no other popular writer, and...

    Listen to who I discovered

The years have passed, and my passion for music increases. I am not a fan of modern rock/pop....altho folks like Paul Simon, JT, Doobies, those continuing, certainly attract my interest. The Golden Age of music for me is the beginning of the 60's to the mid 70's, often characterized by the...

    The Magic

Thank you again, and I'm amazed at how many players I've added to my treasury of music; I used to count albums, 2000.....then in switching to cd's, I had about 100, and have made 340 of my own as little radio shows....but on HD I have 29,000 songs......and there are folks I didnt get into very...

    The Magic

You have long held on to your own Magic, I see......but I usually refer to music as an elixir, or tonic, I usually don't say Magic, but I felt coming on that I would suggest how special rock, folk, folk rock, the Brit invasion, traditional Motown, are to me.....and so I said magic.....so thank...

    The Magic

I post my first thread and call it The Magic, and the administrator uses that handle?...what are the chances?........ Barry/Baz

thanx for taking time to give a 'hi'... I was on for a bit a whiles back, but was really invested in Mixed Bag Bulletin Board, a radio show on listener sponsored radio (and on line), but I don't visit there much anymore... My best to everyone Barry

    The Magic

much appreciated.....I am 59.....while in field of education, produced a series of concerts for the benefit of special needs children....and spent one year doing DJ back in the 70's, and wish I had taken that road in my life, but being an insatiable fan has been my avocation. This is for...

    The Magic

Years of embracing music have brought me to a point that with every year I have more artists in my treasure chest. I'm a bit locked into what I feel is the Golden Age of Rock, and Folk, Folk Rock, the early 60's to mid 70's, what with 4 Seasons and Beach Boys to the Motown crowd, to the Brits...

    What are YOUR profound losses

youtube.com has a couple of videos of Laura Nyro, and the chills go up the spine hearing the power of her voice against the piano. But you guys are hitting the button on the thread. There are so many we have lost.......and my initial comments were not to make comparisons as to who was more of...

    The Golden Age

MRider......thanks for connecting; I'm a long time fan, was in radio (college) for a short while, and as an adjunct to my career in education, I started a benefit concert series, so I became friends with people in the business, and when you do that, you learn even more......This forum tho is...

    What are YOUR profound losses

I'll add someone who might not be appropriate for Rock of the 60's, or rock of any year...........but one of the great female voices of the last 30 years was Karen Carpenter. I have no doubts that she would have been a superstar moving more to standards/jazz, with roots in pop....her brother is...
