Bryan "Brain" Mantia - Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains - Jam

P.S. Those other guys in the band aren't slouches either.
Your video featured Claypools other drummer. And I forget his name but he can beat out a nice beat..

Are you sure? Looks like "Brain" to me. Anyway, great drumming nonetheless.

You are probably right about it being Bryan since the whole Claypool Buckethead thing and he was there when that was going on..
I thought it might have been Jay Lane.. or Tim Alexander.. He bounced around between drummers and persona's.. a bit..
It would be a real pleasure to drum for Les..

Alex get's alot of shit for his drumming but hell.. This song to me proves he can rip it up.. Especially at the end when he cranks it up!!
From what I remember, growing up in the 80's, was Alex seemed to get ripped mostly because of his lack of snare, or that his snare didn't sound authentic (processed sound?)... or am I remembering that incorrectly?

Tons of toms, way more than I ever saw him use. His entire kit was always gigantic (at least it was in the 80's). A lot of bigtime bands had drummers with outrageous kits during the 80's, and AVH was no exception to it. I think he also had like 4 or 6 bass drums on his kit and they were also extra large.

I also remember hearing that they sampled in much of the drum intro to Hot For Teacher in concert. I could see why simply because that intro was pretty damn intense and I'm pretty sure it was cut together for the studio album as well... something that Van Halen rarely did (from what I remember). I'm sure he's gotten grief for that

Anyway, I have never had any problems with the guy. Pretty distinct style if you ask me. I wonder what he could have done with some other band over the years had he not been tied at the waist to his brother. I heard many stores about those guys going fisticuffs with each other back stage both before and after concerts, but they were also inseparable.

Since I mentioned Hot For Teacher, I think it's worthy of posting here (not sure if anyone else has yet or not):
