If you don't take care of vinyl properly ie don't keep it clean, play it using an inferior needle or an old needle, your vinyl will become damaged and sound off with a lot of unwanted noise. If however you take care of your vinyl and clean your needle you should not have any problems with vinyl. Barring of course the occasionally poorly pressed defective album that sometimes but rarely finds it's way to market.
In short , care for your LPs and equipment in an adult manner. The fault lies in the owner and not the vinyl AT LEAST 9 times out of 10 when a record is in poor or OK playing condition.

Exactly. No excuses about it in the end. The fact is vinyl sounds far better when maintained properly than every other format.
