Metal Church - Metal Church
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Queensryche - The Warning
Ratt - Out of the Cellar
Sammy Hagar - VOA
Scorpions - Love at First Sting
Triumph - Thunder Seven
Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry
Van Halen - 1984

Tough one...I like most of the albums on the list!

I went with these:

Lita Ford - Dancin' on the Edge
Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry
Dio - The Last in Line
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith

The first five are clear favourites for me, although in no particular order, but I struggled with the last one. Picked Priest, but it was a coin toss between that, Scorpions, W.A.S.P. and Yngwie...

Yep, I get that. This will be pretty tough on me as I like every single album on the list. I know a few that will for sure be on my list and a few that for sure won't, but completing the 6 will a tough elimination for me.

Scorpions - Love At First Sting. A true classic album.
Malmsteen - Rising Force. The start of guitar solos that got a bit too "widdly, widdly" for me, if you get my meaning, but nevertheless, Malmsteen did it well, and combined with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals, it's an album I like very much, having actually only just recently come back to it.
Van Halen - 1984. Gets an honourable mention if only on the basis of the track Hot For Teacher. I can't remember what else is on it :blush2:

None of the rest are on my radar.

I was a late night DJ playing all of this stuff in 1984. Thanks for the fun question and all 20 are worthy choices!

These were the six I enjoyed the most - as you can tell, I leaned a little more towards melodic pop metal :)

Dokken - Tooth and Nail
Krokus - The Blitz
Queensryche - The Warning
Ratt - Out of the Cellar
Scorpions - Love at First Sting
Van Halen - 1984

Love at first Sting I think in the No 1 spot
Rising Force at No 2 and I agree with you about Yngwie and his widdling...:D This album and "Live in Leningrad" were the only two Yngwie albums I ever really bothered with.

The rest in no particular order and only because I had to choose, they're all ok but none of them are particularly outstanding or special IMO:

The Last in Line
Tooth and Nail
The Warning
VOA
