I can easily tell you which album is my favourite metal album this year, because, although there's been many other good albums, nothing has come close to this one:

As for other favourites, I'll have to think a bit and have to look at what came out this year!

For now will pick my number 1 and 2.
Katatonia The Fall of Hearts easily is the best album I've heard in 2016.

Megadeth Dystopia sits at 2 for its much better writing and riffs than its predecessor.

Hellbringer - Awakened From The Abyss

Here is a really solid bit of thrash metal with a more extreme edge that hails from my hometown of Canberra, Australia. I've been looking more into my local bands both in the city and nationally and Hellbringer are a great band with some really great guitar work, great musicianship and vocals overall.

A plethora to choose from in 2016. New material from Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica......and quite a few new comers, too.

Let me organize a list, so.....

I agree, Riffy. I love the move to a more progressive sound. I also fell in love with the new Avantasia album, Ghostlights.

@Vader Terminal Redux is a REALLY good album. I'm sure it will make it into my list, too.
