Do you think Sabotage is one of the "great" Black Sabbath albums?

When people talk about the Black Sabbath discography they often say things like the first six albums were "classic" or of "unalloyed brilliance". (Yeah, hyperbole is part of rock fandom!) Usually they also say that Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die were disappointing, or at least, a mixed bag ( I happen to like them a lot despite being not as gloomy as the early records)

Sabotage though seems to have people on the fence. A lot of people would class it in the same league as the previous 5, but I've read some comments to the effect that it's not one of their great albums. Personally I do, although I'm not so keen on SuperTzar or Am I Going Insane.

Sabotage is massive, Technical Ecstasy is way underrated and Never Say Die is a sleeper that Is better than it is credited to be.

^ Anything without Ozzy or Dio tends to be underrated and largely forgotten except by the most committed fans.

At what point in the early years did they start experimenting, sound-wise?

As far as the Tony Martin era the only one I don't care for is Forbidden. Headless Cross, Tyr & Cross Purposes are three of my most sought after items for my Vinyl collection. All are great.

I loved all the Tony Martin albums, including Forbidden. The Ice-T guest spot on The Illusion Of Power didn't bother me, though the album is certainly the least of the Tony Martin ones.

Sabotage is good, Technical is underrated, Never Say Die is pretty piss poor.
