I hate it when people say "It's just a song"

Fave Sports Team - Not much into team sports, but still, I can't relate a song to any Spanish teams that I like
First Love - "They All Laughed" - Ella and Louis
Really, Really Bad Break-up - "Babe I'm gonna leave you" Led Zepp
Current... - "Wouldn't it be Nice" The Beach Boys :D

The only time I think about throwing my husband away over music is when we are in the car together. He keeps changing the station when he drives, so we end up listening to about 1/4 of every song. (Drives me nuts!) When I drive, he is not allowed to touch the radio. :grinthumb

Why does the woman always have control of the radio? :gig My wife doesn't allow me any freedom in the car. If I get a CD in the mail and throw it in she'll be annoyed and turning it off half way through the first song. She cant deal. She likes country and I hate country. I like obscure 60's psych music and she hates it. We usually throw on the Christian channel and both settle on that. :pullhair:

Songs come in all shapes and sizes, some celebrate the lighter moments in life, others stir us on a deep emotional level, the majority are about 'love'. Take away all the `Silly Love Songs` and you would have a near empty cupboard.

When I`m playing California Girls by the Beach Boys, I`m not trying to delve into any serious mysteries of life the universe and our place in it, it`s a fun song.

Gordon Lightfoot`s epic piece The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is a different story, that song always makes me think of what happened on that fateful night during a freak storm on Lake Superior.

Music is like an audio version of the visible spectrum all shades and colours, so there are times when I do think a song is just a song written for fun which the artist intended.

Would I let musical differences affect how I interact with someone...it would depend on how many other interests you have in common, there are always headphones to give both of you privacy if your music bothers her or vice-versa.

I've found headphones to be an awesome problem solver, in some instances.

I've also fond, in other instances, they can make a problem worse.

Two people can be sitting in a room, one wearing headphones, and be comfortable.

On the other hand, two people can be sitting in a room, one wearing headphones, and the other feels as though you're blocking them out.

The missus and I, being married 23 years, have been through both. We don't have any trouble now, but long, long, long ago...shew.
