So in my last thread, it had died out an i wasn't so crazy apon what was suggested. i have narrowed it down to

-The Who
-Rolling stones
-Beatles
-Creedance Clearwater revival
-Elvis Presley
-Jimi Hendrix experience
-Eagles
-Van Halen
-Buffalo Springfield
-Queen
-The Animals
-Ramones
-(AC DC)
-Guess who
-Velvet Underground
-Pink Floyd
-Cream

So from what i have picked, tell me which ones you think is a good choice to go with cause since listening to rock music again. i haven't had a certian band to fall back on an say like "Oh yeah! remember that one concert where so an so did that etc"

i have had people tell me the who, they are a great band an i like them alot. but the fact is when i think of pete townshend. i think of his incident back in 2003 an its like really? i play the guitar an want to look up to a great guitarist an yes he is amazing at it but the hole kid scandal spooks me.

The Beatles because most of those band listed and not listed would tell you that the Beatles were a big influence on them.

This is no survey, i just want a band i can listen to and feel like when i talk to other classic rock enthusiast that i can tell them a certain band i like an all they great songs by the band. i just want some options an thought cutting my list down would make it easier for others an myself to help me answer this question.

I like The Who despite what PT may or may not have done, not because of it.

I see no need to be ashamed of admiring a persons skill in one area because of their failings in another.

But if it helps, I don't think Dave Gilmour has ever been accused of anything too shady, so you can safely tell your friends that you like Pink Floyd.

Most Classic Rock enthusiasts like a lot of bands. They don't narrow it down.

This is a bit of a bizarre thread. Just turn on the Classic Rock station on Grooveshark or something and see what you like, man... and take it from there.

The Beatles is a great place to start! I would start all the way from Please Please Me (or at least A Hard Day's Night) and explore the albums chronologically until Let It Be or Abbey Road, which feels like the better finale.

Or else, go the albums route. Don't focus on one artist. Listen to all these classic albums one by one and spend enough time discovering them and re-listening to each one several times.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
The Beatles - Abbey Road
Led Zeppelin - IV
The Doors - The Doors
CCR - Chronicle I (Greatest Hits - best place to start for CCR)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
The Eagles - Greatest Hits 1, 2 OR Very Best of the Eagles (single disc)

I agree, I think a person should at least listen to Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road. :grinthumb

If you are looking for a band with longevity to talk about, and they are on your list, I'd go with the Rolling Stones.

Although I am VERY confused on what you want from the folks here on the forum. Most of us talk about a lot of bands & artists. We usually don't narrow it down to ONE

If you want a band that has a ton of cult followers, had awesome concerts, and plenty of issues to discuss.....then I'd definitely read up on KISS.
