So... Lightning Bolt. It is good but I still prefer the previous one, Backspacer to it. I have allowed plenty of time for Lightning Bolt to grow on me.. and it has too. Fav songs: Getaway, Mind Your Manners, Sirens, Lightning Bolt, Pendulum, Swallowed Whole, Sleeping By Myself and Yellow Moon. But almost none of that even compares to absolute stunners like Amongst The Waves, Unthought Known, Speed Of Sound etc. in my humble opinion. :)

Probably too early to really compare the 2 albums. Although I may tend to agree with you! :gig

Backspacer had a bunch of energy and I absolutely love Amongst the waves,Unthought known,Speed of Sound,Just breathe (my wife's fav),etc. B

But,Lightning Bolt has some beauties as well as you stated above. They are 2 totally different albums. I found backspacer to have alot of energy and kind of back to the punk rock roots.

Lightning Bolt is a much more mellow album most of the time and quite frankly I love both....this is one of the very reasons I love Pearl Jam and love to see them LIVE. They can kick you in the teeth with a heavy rock tune and follow it up with something like Just breath or Future Days!!

The last time I saw Pearl Jam live was in Vancouver and they kicked ass!

Yeah I kinda see what you're saying. Don't get me wrong. I don't hate Lightning Bolt or anything. But here's the thing: On Backspacer, there's hardly a song that I dislike. It is an adrenaline rush of fun from beginning to end. Whereas on LB, I don't care much for Let The Records Play (which does not seem to fit in with the overall theme of the remaining songs) and Future Days (which sounds more like a weepy piano ballad compared to the eerie, heart-wrenching feel of say, The End, which deals with the same subject matter).

I have VS on cd and I do like it. Especially Rearview mirror. The rest of the album is good as well.

I'm going to a music festival tomorrow to see Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire and Tame Impala. There are loads of other bands there but I'm not fussed about seeing any of them.

Pearl Jam were wonderful!!!

Eddie Vedder looked so fit and full of energy and I was most impressed with Mike McCready's guitar playing.

Some of the songs they did (my favourites)

Daughter
Even Flow
Alive
Animal
Better Man
Mind Your Manners
Sirens
