Very cool videos TS. I sure hope they play a set list like this in Vancouver! My current PJ Songs of the day are: Given to Fly Off he goes Red Mosquito Sirens My favourite versions of the top 3 songs are from "Live on two legs" and Sirens is obviously from "Lightning Bolt" Sorry I cannot seem to post the youtube videos for the above songs!!
Hey TS and other Pearl Jam fans. I'm back from my trip to Vancouver and the Pearl Jam show was fantastic. I hope my report helps somewhat paint the picture of how great this show really was... Pearl Jam Rogers Arena Vancouver, BC Dec 04, 2013 Set List Opening Band: Mudhoney 01. Oceans 02. Can’t Keep 03. Low Light 04. Corduroy 05. Breakerfall 06. Mind Your Manners-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”) 07. Why Go 08. God’s Dice 09. Lightning Bolt-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”) 10. In Hiding (Ed sings part of song close to Matt's drum set to the people behind the stage) (Ed mentions the Canadian border crossing. “One measure of a countries standards are how tough the borders are. So this toast is to all the people working the Canadian border crossings. He also talks about the first time they played Vancouver at a place called I believe he said “The Town Pump”) 11. Even Flow (Ed wonders if American border guard would have a problem with Toronto’s mayor (Rob Ford) coming into the U.S.? Probably not if he wanted to go to New Mexico. He talks about Soundgarden and Mudhoney playing in Vancouver in the early ’90’s. He also says the next song is about a young man going to Alaska via Seattle and Vancouver. Ed says drummer Matt Cameron requested the song.) 12. Setting Forth 13. Not For You/Modern Girl 14. Daughter/It’s OK- (Ed compliments the audience on their great singing and isn’t sure if Seattle will “bring it” like Vancouver is and asks the audience to sing “It’s Okay”. I couldn't believe it when the band started playing I said to my wife if this is "It's Ok" I'm gonna lose it! haha. I have a great version of this song on the Pearl Jam DVD called "Touring Band" and I have never seen it live and it was everything and more to sing along with everyone!! 15. Infallible-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”) - Love this new tune, sounded great! (Ed points out a guy about halfway back on the floor holding up a sign (Olé?) and asks if he is going to be going to the Seattle show as well. The person indicates yes, this is a great relief to Ed because they were going to play the song tonight but now they don’t have to and continued to tell the crowd that they may have to to fly the guy down and help with the border crossing so the guy could come to the Seattle show...very funny moment. 16. After Hours-(Velvet Underground Cover) 17. Sirens-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”) 18. Jeremy 19. Gonna See My Friend 20. Improv - 21. Porch (I actually missed when it happened. I got caught watching Ed haha. My wife told me Jeff broke one of the hanging globe lights and then put part of the plastic glob on top of his own head and Ed rides one later on!) Encore 1 (Ed continues to compliment the audience on making them feel so good. “For a guy who feels weird about drinking alone, this is great. It is about as far away from drinking alone as you can get. He thanks Simon? for bringing him a new bottle of wine. Simon is, “guitar tech, bartender..” He also comments on the smell of marijuana in the audience. BC bud definitley has a strong odour haha) Ed shared his wine by pouring into fan cups in the front rows across the stage and did this several times throughout the show front and back of the stage. 22. Soon Forget (While the guitar techs work on an amp Ed asks the audience to help him celebrate Chris Chelios getting into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The audience politely cheers but more people boo. (Chelios played for the Habs,Hawks,Wings, etc.) Ed laughs and comments “that was more applause than I thought. He then encourages the audience to really boo so Ed can send Chris the tape after the crowd boos extremly loud, Ed says **** him! I can say that because we are friends haha) 23. Yellow Moon-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”) I need to listen to this one a couple more times, but sounded really cool live! 24. Thumbing My Way (We want to play a request for someone from Mexico. If we play a request from Mexico in Canada it will be like a meeting of the minds) 25. Footsteps - Shocked to hear this song! 26. Mother-(Waters) (Ed toasts Roger Waters and mentions that he has some new music coming out. He discusses seeing “The Wall” with Jeff and how great and legendary the moment was. He goes on to talk about paying taxes for things you don’t agree with like war and being complicit in wars because the country you live in is involved in them. He tells they Canadians they are lucky that their country isn’t actively at war. “This song is about living in a city that builds war planes”. Ed stopped himself from going further on his political rant and I joked how "The band played for 4 1/2 hrs but the lead singer talked politics for an hour and half ha - I was listening to Ed but watching the reaction of the other guys and Jeff Ament was smiling ear to ear. The entire band was smiling and laughing and looked like they were having the time of their lives on stage!! 27. Insignificance 28. Given To Fly 29. Got Some 30. Better Man - Ed ****ed up at the start and said ”I ****ed up I know...I was just listening to you...” haha and then kicked the shit out of it and the jam was epic...McCready was absolutely on fire during this song and all night! Encore 2 31. Go 32. Do The Evolution 33. Black 34. Alive 35. Kick Out The Jams with Mudhoney with the lights on! Ed and the boys just wanted to keep playing 36. Yellow Ledbetter - I absolutely love this song and the perfect send off tune - "Ah yeah, can you see them out on the porch? Yeah, but they don't wave" I don't want to be that guy and say this was the best show ever. But, Ed stated several times how great the energy was this night and how great the band was singing. If you like those moments when the crowd sings with the singer then this show kicked ass and I loved every minute of it... Ed gave away several tambourines at the end of the show. I'm sure the last show in Seattle on the 6th was extremely epic as well but it would take alot to convince me that Seattle was better... Approx 3hrs with 36 songs! Sorry about the long post. Things got carried away...
Holy cow, ecisgod!! That's gotta be one of the best CRF gig reviews I have ever read, seriously, props!! And what a total killer set list, with many MANY of my favourite PJ songs I have to say - Alive, In Hiding, Corduroy, Why Go, Evenflow, Not for You, Ledbetter, Daughter, Jeremy, Insignificance, Better Man, Evolution, Black....thing is about PJ the set list will be totally different the next night, seems they tour with around 80 songs rehearsed, which is mind-boggling. Look out for an official bootleg of the show in a few weeks, I have quite a few from PJ gigs I was at, the band as you probably know record all their shows and most of them end up as an offical bootleg live album via their website. I'll check out all your vids later (it's kinda middle of the night, I often check my emails and forums when I can't sleep and get up for a snack, but I'd rather be fully awake to watch them! ) It's the first PJ tour I've missed for quite a while, and everything I am reading suggests they are just tearing up every arena and stadium, so I mustn't let that happen again! Hope you also enjoyed the beautiful city of Vancouver, great review anyway, glad you had one hell of a night with the mighty PJ. Hey Sunny, you'll please let us know how your PJ show went, I hope!?
Thanks TS for the kind words. It was a great concert and an incredible trip to the beautiful city of Vancouver...Cheers I'll post some pics of the show and maybe even a few pics of the city haha
Fantastic ecisgod, what a beautiful place it is, if my wife wouldn't kill me in my sleep for suggesting that we move house again, I'd live there for sure! Did you take that pic of Eddie (or is it Stone Gossard?...hard to tell) ...if so, you couldn't have gotten much nearer the front of the stage!!....outstanding!!
The Pic of Stone Gossard I did not take I found it online from the show. I wish I was that close. We had great seats a little to the left of the stage 6 rows up. I have some pics from my seat, but I'm working and I don't have access to alot of photos that we took during the trip. My wife is a photographer (Weddings, etc) and I am becoming a bit addicted in Photography as well. We both had a camera each for the entire trip and some of my photos were also taken on my iphone 5 or my wifes Iphone 4
1. My Ticket 2. Photo taken by my wife from Granville Island 3. Photo taken by me - Lions Gate Bridge 4. Ed - Photo not taken by us..but I love it! 5. Jeff - Photo not taken by us...but I love it haha!
