^nope the clip is from Hartford. Didn't think pj could top nite 2 in Brooklyn but Hartford had amazing energy, a crowd cheering from song one, Eddie speech about newtown and guns. Van halen was done because they did it last time in Hartford and Eddie stated they will only play it in Hartford. Also apologized to Neil and peg for f*cking up and missing bridge school benefit so they broke into Neil youngs f*ckin up!

It's moments like these that make me respect bands like Pearl Jam a little more, as well as respecting their obvious open minds.
Music in general is not easy to handle if it's not your own....even with a couple rocky moments they pulled it off well and I'm surprised.....well I guess I shouldn't considering the Mother Love Bone era anyway.
Anyway....it reminded me of how I appreciate and listen to music and switch gears all the time, whether listening or writing my own.

Yes, very well put MP. I’m still kicking myself for missing them on this tour, but that weekend they played Brooklyn I was all tied up with family stuff which I couldn’t avoid, though I think it’s the first tour they’ve done for about 15 years that I haven’t managed to get to a concert…or at least provided they have played within striking distance…the best and most memorable show for me being I think at the Verizon Center in DC in 2008, which I have on CD.
In fact that’s another thing about Pearl Jam which I bet most people don’t even realise… with their history of doing the exact opposite of just about every other band you can mention, some of whom organise extra security at gigs purely for spying on fans with recording equipment, PJ have always openly welcomed their shows getting bootlegged by their fans, in fact they always positively encouraged it, and so in order to provide a more affordable and a better quality product for fans, the band some years ago started to record virtually every show that they do (and they do it professionally using their own sound/recording engineers) and they then release a recording of every show for sale on a ‘live’ CD (or a digital download) via the band website, though I have also seen them for sale in quite a few record stores too. I have never come across another band that does this. I have no idea how many ‘official bootleg’ live albums Pearl Jam have released so far, but it must be somewhere in the region of 400-500 by now….I think I probably have only 10 or 12 or so, though to be honest I wouldn’t remotely want to get all nerdy about it like I bet some people do, and try to collect them all, that would just be the ultimate rock obsessive compulsive disorder, and it would surely eventually drive you nuts, quite apart from the cost, though the digital downloads are only $9.95 per gig, and the CD’s are around $15. But I do at least have a CD recording of the PJ gigs I have attended, and also a few others, so they are just a unique momento to have which no fans of other bands as far as I am aware have the same access to. And so it’s on these recordings that you pick up on all these quirky ‘tribute’ tracks that they come up with like the Van Halen thing (not Baltimore, my bad!)
I think the new PJ ‘Lightning Bolt’ album for me is easily the best rock album of 2013, and I can’t stop playing it, and it’s made me go back through their whole back catalogue and remind myself of that a wealth of amazing stuff they have given us…I was even watching the World Series baseball last night from St Louis on TV with my two sons… but with me watching the game pictures, but wearing my headphones and listening to the ‘Live at Benaroya’ double album! …though to be honest, with Joe Buck and Tim McCarver calling the plays on Fox, it was no hardship being spared their tedious commentary, I'd rather listen to Susan Boyle than those guys.

‘Do the Evolution’, from ‘Yield’ (1998)
OK, there’s a lot of political crap been spoken about this song over the years, but this song/whole album is based largely upon the ideas written by Daniel Quinn in his book 'Ishmael'…. It’s about the human revolution 10,000 years ago when humans somehow became more than 'just an animal' and didn’t need to live by the fundamental rules of ecology. ..and now as we can see 10,000 years of living outside of our ecosystem's rules is destroying the planet, expanded our population to breaking point, poisoning the atmosphere and environment, and it may very well prove to be our extinction. So that is what this fantastic track is about.

‘Rearviewmirror’ from ‘V’s (1993)
Whenever I'm stressed ‘V’s is sometimes one of the albums that I listen to, and I always feel better afterwards, usually at the end of Rearviewmirror. The early songs and the first half of this one are like releasing anger, and then the second half of the song is explosive and feels like finally escaping, which is the real point of it. This song is about the abuse from Eddie’s stepfather towards him, and how he escaped, and now he is reflected and looking back on it, “rearview mirror”….Eddie once advised fans to "listen to this song in a car really fast whilst driving away from something you really hate." Like so many other Pearl Jam songs, this one really shines in the end. The rest of the song is great too, but the whole solo/ jamming thing at the end, especially when they do it live, is just freakin incredible.

I can't wait to see Pearl Jam live in Vancouver Dec 4,2013!!
I have seen PJ live 10 times over the years and they never disappoint. I recently won a contest with a local radio station (Hamilton,ON) for an all expenses trip to Vancouver for 3 days and 2 tickets to see Pearl Jam.
My wife are extremly excited about the trip for several reasons. We have never been out west. We have moved the trip departure several dates back so we can spend 6 days in downtown Vancouver and enjoy the scenery and maybe check out some local attractions and they watch PJ rock the place out on the 4th!!

Holy cow, what a fantasic prize ecisgod - Vancouver is the most amazingly beautiful city I think I have ever visited, the way the forest and mountains go down to the sea with the city right on the coast, we have family who live in Squamish (about half way between Vancouver and Whistler) so we have been out there to visit a couple of times. So that will be something to really treasure. And you’re almost seeing the band on PJ home turf, Vancouver is only a couple of hours north of Seattle, so the crowd there should just be amazing. If you've seen them 10 times you don't need me or anyone else to tell you what a stonking amazing band they are live….so hey, you need to report back here with a concert review!! Still kicking myself I didn’t see them on this latest tour.
Time I posted another couple PJ songs that mean a lot – from ‘Vitalogy’, which is one of their most under-rated albums, some of it is quite experimental I suppose, but there's at least 5 or 6 tracks on there that I reckon would make it into most PJ fan's Top 50 PJ tracks...Not for You, Corduroy, Better Man, Nothingman, Immortality, Spin the Black Circle…the best 3 for me are these totally sublime tracks…I think the beautiful Nothingman is my favourite PJ song ever....

Ya TS really looking forward to the trip and obviously the show. I will definitely report back when I return. Love Vitalogy great album and IMO greatly underrated.

18 encores must be close to a record even by PJ's standards.
My PJ tracks of the day are 'Of the Girl' and 'Parting Ways' - both from the phenomenal Binaural album, though here they are taken from that great 'unplugged' benefit thing they did at Benaroya Hall in Seattle in 2003 (really great sound, really bad video)...even sitting down, they are 100% cooler and more together than almost any other band I know....
