Although I consider Al Di Meola to be one of the guitar heroes (Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, Vinnie Moore, B.B.King, Hendrix, etc) he still has really intense flamenco songs.

wowwwwww. i absolutely LOVE this type of music. i've only ever heard scattered bits and pieces, either rockers (like steve howe) imitating the style~~lindsey buckingham does it, too~~or clips from movies, that kinda thing. it's wonderful to be able to hear examples of the real thing. i consider it a super groovy education, i dew. mwhaha. i could have this stuff on a mix CD and play it all day. i aint kiddin.

my brother played gweetar, mainly classical, but he was all over the board in what he luvved... blues, ragtime, and imitations of that flamenco styling. (he could play 'mood for a day' note for note.) he would sooo adore this stuff. just a quick rundown of what i've heard so far (the clips up til the documentary, i'll come back to that...)

fantastic gweetar. i just luvvvv that kinda gweetar, seriously. i also have a percussive fetish. bongos, for example. so much so, that i am teased on other boards about it. heh.

Vicente Amigo - Tres Notas Para Decir Te Quiero
fantastic gweetar again, again percussive coolness. this is probably the closest to how my brother would play his version of spanish gweetar. ya.

luvv that piano, incredible. the strings, very unexpected. dramatic but beautiful

as i said above, my brother would luvvvv this music so very much. he was a huge musical influence on me, so it's not all that surprising that we would agree on this music, hee hee. my brother is no longer in planet-walking form~~he has gone to the great gig in the sky~~but i like to think he's hearing this stuff anyway. and smiling. ;>

maybe you could translate the titles for me?

no, thank YOU for the great musical turn-on. really. i am a gweetar addict. the more fantastic gweetar i can find on the planet, the happier i am. it's true.

and thanks for the translations. sometimes i can kinda figure em out (dos aguas = two waters... i guessed that oracion might be like the english word, orison, a morning prayer). other times, i am sooo off it's not even funny. mwhaha. i had NO idea caballo meant horse. i thought it might be like cabal, people plotting in secret. hee heee. which would change the feel entirely. ahem.

oh, and this bit...

... is great. i personally believe it is the only way to live life, even if the pain is much, much closer than centuries away in the past. however painful or hard one's life may be~~and i think i've seen my share~~planting roses, enjoying them, seeking them out elsewhere, those things make the difference. a matter of perspective. happiness is in the choosing to do that, deliberately.
