^^I picked up a new 180 gram vinyl copy of II last week, I was going to buy a used one for $10 but then saw the new RTI pressing for $19.00 so now I have I & II on wax again. :D

It's funny so many people think 1984 is the "definitive" Van Halen recording, it's good but to me the debut and then II and Women & Children First are the cream of the crop, with the debut being one of the best of all time. But I might end up getting 1984 on new HQ vinyl eventually, if the price is right.

I played 3 VH albums in a row on Friday or Saturday night, Women & Children First, Fair Warning and Diver Down. Was ages since I listened to them, totally enjoyed myself. According to what history I read about Fair Warning it was the equivalent of a "Shot across the bow" by Eddie Van Halen, reasserting his control/leadership of the band and the musical direction they should take. Diver Down is a stop gap album thrown out while the band recovered from non-stop touring, but it was enjoyable too. The die was cast though and 1984 would be the last studio album of the original line up until last years release.

I see you posted the anniversary of OU812, which isn't a terrible album by any means but it simply cannot hold a candle to early VH which is the band at it's peak. If I really want some vintage Sammy Hagar, I reach for Montrose's debut album, not a Van Hagar CD.

I will stand by early DLR VH to be the better of the two. JMO...but I like it better. Call me old fashioned. :heheh:

25 Years Ago: Van Halen’s ‘OU812′ Album Released

Outstanding album and my favorite release during the Van Hagar period.

My favorites from this album are Cabo Wabo and Black and Blue

I hated OU812 when it came out. As a matter of fact, the first time I actually bought it was about 3 years ago on vinyl. I like it alot now though, it has grown on me like some kinda fungus.
