IMO if any cover stole the spotlight from a Beatle's song, it'd have to be "With a Little Help from my Friends" performed by Joe Cocker.

I've always loved Foo Fighters cover of Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street.

Yeah, but you're not saying it's better than Lightfoot's. I can buy a lot of these, but this one is just all wrong.

Fair enough! :heheh: For me it's better and the go to version based on the reasons I listed. I just feel a lot more from that and that's with no respect to Gordon and his work! I own both versions! :D

I see people mentioning Elton John a lot and as much as I adore Elton I don't think his covers are that outstanding.

As much as I like the stones I think keel's cover was better.

I think Bowie's cover is the best personally...

Got another one (and this one really was stolen).

Original by Jake Holmes "Dazed and Confused"

Made famous by Led Zeppelin:

Factoid: Led Zeppelin never credited Jake for the original and a huge court battle took place which finally was settled last year (2012) out of court.

Quiet Riot

I actually like the original and the vocals sound almost identical but Quiet Riot just gave it more kick which improved it imho.
