PAUL DI'ANNO To Fan: 'If You Like BRUCE DICKINSON, Go Home And Listen To His Records' - Nov. 14, 2012
Paul Di'Anno verbally attacked a fan who attended the former IRON MAIDEN vocalist's November 3 performance at Liverpool in Donetsk, Ukraine after the man kept calling out the name of the band's current lead singer — and Di'Anno's replacement — Bruce Dickinson.

the fan in question can be heard repeatedly shouting out Dickinson's name in heavily accented English, prompting Di'Anno to respond, "I'm sorry. I don't sing opera. [Singing in operatic style] 'Run to the hills…' [That's] too ****ing easy, and I'm not gay. This is punk. If you like Bruce Dickinson, go home and listen to his records."

He continued, "Why did you come and buy a ticket, mother****er? This is real punk, man. This is what made IRON MAIDEN. Not the money-making machine. Why don't you go **** yourself? I come up here to work hard. If you don't like me, **** off! I'm sorry. I didn't say I was a nice guy, man. You **** me up, I'll kick your ****ing ass… and anybody else."

He then added, "OK, I'm gonna do the one song, which I wrote this song. This is the song that made IRON MAIDEN famous. This is about sex, drugs, rock and roll, Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Hells Angels forever. 'Running Free'."

Di'Anno recorded two classic albums with IRON MAIDEN before being fired and replaced by Bruce Dickinson. He went on to front a number of other bands, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, and released several solo records.

Someone's bitter.

I have a kind of philosophy...if you're up there and announcing you're punk, doesn't that kinda negate the whole punk thing?

But, I agree with one thing...why would you buy a ticket, then antagonize the guy? Seems kinda stupid. Ah yes, the joys of alcohol.

And, if I want to hear Bruce Dickinson, I will go home and listen to him.

Or, maybe I can just go and see IRON F***ING MAIDEN, MAN!!:oy:

Just another fan with no class, and Paul was one of the main reasons Iron Maiden became a successful band in their formative years. But there is no denying when Dickinson arrived the band had found their best vocalist and the rest is history.

He didn't have to get all nuts, but you can't provoke people. He's kinda right...why go to the show?? Did the guy pay just to go heckle?? I mean really.

I like both singers just fine and they did reach their highest potential with Bruce.

Completely understand why he blew his top. How could he not be bitter? Iron Maiden was taking off at the height of NWOBHM and he was ousted; not because of the usual bickering or drug problems, but because his voice wasn't strong enough to take Maiden to the next level.

The right choice for Maiden as it goes, but don't go to his gigs and berate the dude for being who he is!

I'll deny it till the day I die. I heard Maiden the year their first album was out. I never heard one song from them I didn't like until the Dickenson albums. He's a good singer. Just not a good singer for Iron Maiden.

But to each his own.

DiAnno and Clive Burr (and even to some extent Dennis Stratton) are Iron Maiden. That other line up is the popamole version.

Well, if you hear the Maiden Japan album it really sounds like DiAnno is shitfaced the whole time. It is a mystery to me that this is what they presented as their first live album when most of my friends said it was abysmal compared to what they heard when they saw them.
