t’s been quite a while since Jimmy Page fans have had any new studio music from the reclusive musician, but it looks like the wait may be almost over. In a new interview, the groundbreaking Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin guitarist reveals that he is working on some new music that could possibly see release by the end of 2013.

Page collaborated with his old Zeppelin bandmate Robert Plant on 1998′s ‘Walking Into Clarksdale,’ which was the last full-length album to feature all-new material from the guitarist. He says his new music might not be what people expect from him. “I’m just looking forward to making some music and surprising people with it,” Page tells BBC Radio (quote via Blabbermouth). “It won’t be just teaming up with lots of people who are [big] names. I’ve got an idea of something which I’ve had for a long time and now’s the time to do it.”

Not that Page has been sitting around idle. Led Zeppelin have been actively promoting the upcoming release of ‘Celebration Day,’ a concert film that documents their 2007 reunion gig at London’s 02 Arena. The film will be available in multiple formats on Nov. 19, and Page says it reflects the best of the group’s entire career. “On this we had a chance to have a real retrospective of the career. That’s why we arrived at the first number being ‘Good Times Bad Times’, which was the first track of the first album and then let’s see what goes on from there,” he notes.

“I think we made a pretty good choice right across the board in the time that we had. Y’know, we paid good attention to it and the pacing of the set was interesting, because with no warm-up gig, we had to get it right.”

Page remains typically elusive on the details of his new recording project, which has yet to be titled. “I have got other ideas that have been nagging at me for a long long time,” he states. “I think the way to present music is same picture different frame, and sometimes this frame is quite radical.”

He has already achieved so much with Led Zeppelin. Anything he does now is likely to be below par compared to what he did with Led zeppelin. Maybe this is the reason he doesn't release as much. However, I will still like to hear some new material from him. The more experimental the better.
Hope he sticks to his words and does actually release something next year.

Jimmy should do what Slash's done. Get a shit hot vocalist and head out on the road to nail our arses with some new material and of course, a bunch of the old Zeppelin classics.

This.

Seems he has been "working on new music" for a couple of years now. Last year there were rumors circulating that he was working with Roger Daltrey but nothing came of it. I got my hopes up for what?

I guess what I'm trying to say is... I'll believe it when I see it! :grinthumb
